the day fades & my skin I shed
laid up in bed I breathe a sigh
the moon is high, the end is nigh
& i’m just trying to get by.
no longer does my hearts songs sing
to things that once brought me such joy
a sweater from my favorite boy
the sweetest memories seem to cloy.
my vision slowly fades to grey
I say I try, I swear I do
I promise to my merry crew
if only of this plight they knew.
I’m kneeling, down here on the floor
a chore whose frequency accrue
I’m searching for my lost loose screw
I’ve got so many things to do.
