You may have noticed the big gray building being built off 17 and 32 behind McDonalds. Ever wondered what it is?
The building that is currently under construction will be a hotel, according to Woodbury’s building department. When it is completed it will be a 122 room Courtyard by Marriott.
The overall site plan was approved in 2021 by the planning board and the hotel received their site plan and architectural approval in 2023.
So far the building doesn’t have a completion date.
Senior Kaylie Rosenholtz said she thinks the hotel is sign that the area is getting more attention.
¨I think its is really cool that the town is getting more recognition for what we have,¨ said Rosenholtz.
The hotel is being built near a bus stop which could help many commuters traveling to and from New York City.
¨It’s nice to know they are building a hotel next to a big bus stop¨ said senior Sasha Morales.
