before I entered your terrain
I considered myself whole.
I knew what I was
before you
but you drew me in.
so, with you,
deny me the truth, &
rub salt in my wounds
& hold my head in the flow of the river
& just before I fade from light
pull me up & call me yours
though I know you speak falsehoods.
you can rip me to shreds &
watch me crumble &
grin with glee as
you watch me lose myself
sit in complacency
as you watch me become you,
become what I never wanted to.
& after all of it
I will still say I love you.
