Seven Things to Do During the Fall

Hailey Lanari, Staff Writer

Crisp air and brightly colored leaves abound, Fall is finally here. So, what can you do to make the most of it?

1. Pumpkin and Apple Picking

Fall fruit picking is something fun to do with a group of people. An amazing place to go apple or pumpkin picking, along with other fun activities, would be a local farm – for example, The Wright Family Farm in Warwick is a nearby farm that has goats, donkeys, activities for kids, and apple canons.

2. Pumpkin Carving and Decorating

Booklets of designs are always great, but if you’re feeling extra creative find a picture online for inspiration. If getting pumpkin guts on you doesn’t sound exciting, try painting or decorating a pumpkin instead.

3. Baking

Nothing is better than warm, freshly baked food in the chilly fall months. Pies, pastries and cookies, there are plenty of easy recipes online to follow. Try finding a family recipe and make it with a loved one.

4. Watch Autumn-themed Movies

The changing of the weather gives you an excuse to bundle up on the couch or in bed and watch movies. Scary horror movies are hailed as the perfect fall entertainment, but there are plenty of movies such as Dead Poets Society, or more nostalgic options like the Harry Potter series and It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.

5. Costume Making

For those of us crafty people who celebrate Halloween, make your own costume! Spend time working on it with your siblings, friends or by yourself. Even if you aren’t particularly artistic, projects like this can be fun to try.

6. Fall Photoshoots

Fall leaves create a great scenery for pictures. Whether you need pictures for your photography class or just want to update your Instagram, nature provides a lovely seasonal background.

 7. Spend Time Outside before the Winter Weather comes

Take a walk, a hike, or just sit outside reading or listening to music. School is consuming a lot of everyone’s time right now, but taking those breaks is important.
