Ink: Earn

Nathaniel Diaz, Poetry

Sometimes life is just weird

One day its normal then the next it’s out of the ordinary

The past year has just been extraordinary

For crying out loud I’m growing a beard

Now everything is going through change

That sense of normalness just feels so out of range

But this is our new normal

Bottoms wearing comfy up top dressing formal

But enough of this we’ve had a years worth of talk on that

What else has gone on in the past year besides corona

(And not the drink, I know some of y’all have had a couple with all the stuff goin on)

Quick question before I move on

What do you guys like more, dark or light

“I personally prefer dark”

“Most people pick light”

Oh to those who like the dark, I don’t like you

Cause I like the light, just like most of the people hear

Now just off of this

It just shows the way the world is today

If you know your the outsider of the group, there’s that urge to be the same in the back of your head, like a little hiss

Or your looked upon or disliked because you prefer night then day

If your not part of the majority opinion your canceled

You shouldn’t even be in the discussion or topic if your not part of the majority

Now why is that

Are people scared of a little rivalry

Are they afraid of a little chat

No, they just want to fit in with society

They’re afraid of being the outsider

They don’t want to be on the opposite side of the majority

They don’t want to be that divider

They’re scared of being the minority

But what’s so wrong of being on the smaller side

Does it punch a whole in your pride

Let’s go back to the question earlier, except I’m gonna fight

I like the dark better than light!

And I don’t care what anyone else thinks

In awe no one blinks

Now this is what people need to learn

There’s no need to hide behind the majority

If you want to be heard, make it your priority

When it comes to being heard, its not just something that’s given, its something you earn
